Metalworking on modern multipurpose machining equipment is not possible today without water-based metal working fluids. No other media is able to effectively reduce the frictional heat by lubrication and at the same time to transport the produced heat so efficiently away from the work-piece and tools by cooling as a water-based metalworking fluid.
Unfortunately, water-based metalworking fluids are also good biotope for many microorganisms. A water content of approximately 95 % combined with nearly 5 % of potential nutrients from the metalworking fluid plus a temperature of around 30 °C produced by the heat of the metalworking process provide a suitable environment for many microorganisms like bacteria and fungi.
Therefore, the selection of the right preservative or biocide is a crucial factor to ensure a safe metalworking process.
Under the trade names grotan® and parmetol® schülke provides formulators and end-users with a complete range of tailor-made and modern biocides for all applications in water-based metalworking fluids. Furthermore, schülke also offers under the name grotanol® different system-cleaner for the cleaning of piping systems in the metalworking fluids systems.
All our biocides are fast acting, effective and sustainable without any negative influence on the specific properties of the metalworking fluids.
All products are displayed on the schülke international website.
