Instructions for use
Prior to all invasive surgery
- Use kodan® without dilution
- Spray on or rub the relevant skin area with a soaked swab, assure a thorough wetting of the skin and pay attention to the exposure time in correspondence to the application area
- Remove the excess product to avoid puddling
Prior to punctures of the joints and preoperative skin preparation
- Remove hair mechanically or chemically on the relevant skin area
- Preoperative antiseptic washing (e.g. with octenisan®) is recommended
- To avoid removal only use skin markers with sufficient alcohol resistance (e.g. Devon™ Surgical Site Mini-Marker)

100 g solution contains: 2-propanol (Ph. Eur.) 45.0 g, 1-propanol (Ph. Eur.) 10.0 g, biphenyl-2-ol 0.20 g. Other ingredients: hydrogen peroxide solution 30% (Ph. Eur.), purified water.

Special advice
For external use only. Keep pharmaceuticals out of the reach of children. In case of accidental contact with eyes rinse immediately for several minutes with plenty of water keeping the eyelid open. Due to the high alcohol content kodan® tincture forte colourless must not be applied on premature infants and neonates with immature skin (e.g. restricted barrier function of the skin).
Flammable. Do not expose to flames or electrical heat sources. When thermocauters or other electrical devices are used, let the product dry well to prevent adverse effects.
When used before glucose testing (e.g. Hämogluco-Sticks), let the product dry well to prevent adverse effects on measurement results.
When used before incision foils are used, let the product dry well to prevent impairment of adhesion.
Once the container has been opened the product should not be used for more than 12 months but not beyond the expiry date.

kodan® tincture forte colourless
Active substances: 2-propanol (Ph. Eur.), 1-propanol (Ph. Eur.), biphenyl-2-ol. Composition: 100 g solution contain 45.0 g 2-propanol (Ph. Eur.), 10.0 g 1-propanol (Ph. Eur.), 0.20 g biphenyl-2-ol. Other ingredients: hydrogen peroxide solution 30% (Ph. Eur.), purified water. Indications: Skin disinfection prior to surgical procedures, catheterization, blood and liquor collection, injections, punctures, excisions, cannulations, biopsies, for antiseptic care of sutures as well as for additional general hygienic measures to prevent fungal skin infections. If no special hand disinfectant is available kodan® tincture forte colourless may also be used for hygienic hand disinfection. Contraindications: kodan® tincture forte colourless should not be used for surgical hand disinfection. kodan® tincture forte colourless may not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to any of the components of the preparation. Undesirable effects: Particularly with frequent use, skin irritations such as burning, erythema and dryness can occur. In rare cases allergic contact reactions are possible.
