The trust of our customers makes us the market leader for hand disinfection in German hospitals.¹ Thanks to its broad spectrum of efficacy, desderman® provides effective protection against infections and guarantees good skin compatibility and a pleasant feeling on the skin thanks to its proven refatting system.

Because we want to protect life, we have the environment in mind. That is why we have been steadily increasing the proportion of ethanol from renewable raw materials in desderman® since 2014. In addition, we use 100% green electricity in production and keep delivery routes as short as possible. Furthermore, we do not use any colorants or fragrances.

The main component of desderman® is ethanol. We started using ethanol from renewable raw materials back in 2014. The proportion has grown continuously and today we use 100% sustainable ethanol.³ The pharmaceutical grade agricultural ethanol used (90% from EU agriculture) is chemically identical to ethanol from fossil sources. The composition of desderman® has therefore not changed, only the sustainability has been improved.
Regenerative energy in use
Electricity from renewable sources is a contribution to a future worth living. That is why we have completely switched to green electricity at our production site in Germany and elsewhere. At the same time, we are implementing numerous large-scale and individual measures to reduce electricity consumption. After all, saving electricity not only makes ecological sense, it also makes economic sense.
Save CO2 instead of waiting
We want to set an example and show that economic success and sustainability go hand in hand. That is why we joined the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) in June 2022, committing ourselves to meeting the targets of the Paris Climate Agreement and submitting our targets to the SBTi. Our targets up to 2030 include
- Reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions in Scope 1 and 2 by 42% (direct and indirect emissions)
- Reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions from purchased goods and services in Scope 3 by 25%.
The targets are expected to be validated by the end of this year.

Taking responsibility, protecting lives
With desderman®, we offer hand disinfectant of proven quality that contains only ethanol from sustainable raw materials³ - an important milestone in our mission #we protect lives worldwide. As a pioneer in sustainability management and environmental protection, we have been EMAS-certified at our Norderstedt site since 1996 and have been involved in professional associations such as the Bundesdeutscher Arbeitskreis für umweltbewusstestes Management e.V. (B.A.U.M.) for more than 30 years. We have switched our energy supply to green electricity at our largest sites, particularly at our production sites in Germany and Brazil.
With the aim of continuously minimizing our carbon footprint, we have also developed a mobility concept that includes revising our business travel policy. In 2021, another project from the mobility concept, the JobRad, was implemented to offer all employees an ecologically valuable alternative means of transportation.
Recyclable materials and packaging optimize our product portfolio while maintaining consistently high product quality and safety.
