“It´s all in the mix” - Diversity-Day 2023 at schülke

23.05.2023

Today marks the 11th German Diversity Day. This day was launched by the Diversity Charter, an initiative to promote diversity in companies and institutions under the patronage of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

The goal of the initiative is to advance the recognition, appreciation and inclusion of diversity at the workplace in Germany. In April 2021, schülke signed the Diversity Charter to make a visible and sustainable commitment to an appreciative and prejudice-free working environment.

By signing the Diversity Charter, we are sending a clear signal for diversity and tolerance at the workplace and signaling our appreciation of all employees regardless of age, ethnic origin and nationality, gender and gender identity, physical and mental abilities, religion and worldview, sexual orientation and social origin.

For us, an organizational culture in which diversity is lived is a matter of course and means that all employees can contribute and develop their potential to the best of their ability. It also promotes the diversity of ideas and products for which we stand. We live by these principles every day at schülke. On German Diversity Day, we would like to celebrate diversity and inclusion at schülke with special activities for and with you.

"It's all in the Mix" - Our motto of today's German Diversity Day 2023

The German Diversity Day 2023 at schülke is under our HR motto: It's all in the mix. This motto not only stands for our products, but especially for the appreciation of diversity in our company. Because the success of our company is very much due to the different skills, ways of thinking, backgrounds and commitment of all employees who stand behind our company name and our mission every day.

In addition to the measures we have anchored in our Diversity Roadmap to 2025, we are looking forward, as every year, to very special activities for and with our colleagues on the topic of diversity, such as our Diversity Knowledge Quiz and the international "Match Roulette" group event. And because an unexpected thank-you is a great sign of appreciation that is known to sweeten the day, we provide Kudo cards for our colleagues at all our international company locations. Because we want to deepen appreciation, team spirit and recognition between our employees.

schülke Diversity Roadmap 2025

In the spirit of the Diversity Charter, we have defined a wide variety of measures in our strategic diversity roadmap until 2025 to make diversity at schülke visible, promote it and use it. One of the core elements is to increase equal opportunities for women and to strengthen the quota of women in the company. Our roadmap is divided into three time periods, which include short-term goals (until the end of 2021) as well as medium-term (until 2023) and long-term (until the end of 2025).

Part of our agenda lies in expanding talent management for women. This includes special training and mentoring programs, but also the establishment of a Women Roundtable, which serves to improve the networking of women at schülke and their exchange. It takes place quarterly and involves women from different departments, age groups and hierarchy levels from all countries. It also serves as a platform for women who have recently joined our company to make contact and build a network.

As far as recruiting is concerned, we are also working specifically on increasing equal opportunities and attracting women to schülke. Likewise, we want to close the salary gap ("gender pay gap" between men and women) to reflect our responsibility as a fair employer. As far as strengthening women in management positions is concerned, our goal is to achieve a 42% share of women at the second and third management levels by 2025. We then want to have achieved parity by 2030. At the first management level, we are also striving to increase the proportion of women. We regard discrimination of any kind as a violation of our diversity principles. We live our Code of Conduct and mutual respect. (Source: schülke Sustainability Report 2022)
