Because of its hydrophilic properties, the medical device octenisan^® md nasal gel ensures efficient moisturisation of the nasal vestibules. Though this moisturisation, the hydrogel promotes the maintenance of the physiological environment and helps prevents bacterial colonisation. Additionally, restoring the natural protective and cleansing functions supports the effective removal of particles, skin debris, and pathogens. The hydrogel also moisturizes irritated skin beneath the nostrils, supporting optimal healing. For healing to occur, epithelial cells need to divide and migrate processes that are most effective in a moist wound environment.

Unless prescribed otherwise, apply the medical device octenisan^® md nasal gel up to three times daily as needed. The medical device octenisan^® md nasal gel is intended solely for use in the nasal vestibules and below the nostrils.

Application in the nasal vestibules: If necessary, clean the nose beforehand using a thoroughly wetted cotton bud. Using a cotton bud, for example, introduce a sufficient amount of gel (pea-sized) into the front part of the nose (nasal vestibules) so that the surface is completely covered. Then close the nose by pressing the sides of the nose together and massage it between the thumb and forefinger. This ensures that the gel is evenly distributed. After allowing the gel to act for five minutes, the remaining gel and the pathogens entrapped within it are removed from the nasal vestibules using a cotton bud. Ensure that a film of moisture remains behind.

Application underneath the nostrils: Apply a sufficient amount of gel, for example using a cotton bud, to the irritated skin just below the nostrils. Ensure that a film of moisture remains behind. To prevent bacterial spread, avoid direct contact with the opening of the tube.
