Fields of Application

octenisept® wound disinfection is an antiseptic for repeated, temporary supportive antiseptic wound treatment. Colorless, very well-tolerated spray for disinfecting cuts, scrapes as well as open blisters – quick and easy to use!

Instructions for use

Always use this drug exactly as described in this package insert. Please consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure. Carefully spray the drug onto the area to be treated. The wound must be completely moistened. Wait for at least 1 to 2 minutes before taking any further action, such as applying a wound dressing. These instructions must be followed carefully in order to achieve the desired effect. As experience to date is limited to continuous use for approximately 14 days, the drug should not be used for longer than two weeks without medical supervision.

Special advice

  • To prevent possible tissue damage, the product must not be applied to the tissue under pressure or injected.
  • In the case of wound cavities, drainage must be ensured at all times (e.g., drainage, flap).
  • Do not swallow octenisept® wound disinfection in large quantities or allow it to enter the bloodstream, e.g., through accidental injection.
  • Do not mix octenisept® wound disinfection with other preparations.
  • Do not use octenisept® wound disinfection with PVP-iodine-based antiseptics on adjacent skin areas, as this may cause severe brown to purple discoloration.
  • Bandages and incision films can be applied after octenisept® wound disinfection has dried completely.
  • When using octenisept® wound disinfection, a temporary burning sensation may occur in rare cases as a subjective symptom.
  • octenisept® wound disinfection can be warmed to body temperature.
  • octenisept® wound disinfection should not be used after the expiry date. Once opened, octenisept® wound disinfection should not be used for longer than 3 years, but not beyond the expiry date.
  • Keep octenisept® wound disinfection out of the reach of children.
  • As a general rule, all medicines should only be used during the first trimester of pregnancy under strict medical supervision and on strict medical advice.
  • Avoid using octenisept® wound disinfection in the eye. In case of accidental contact with the eye, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
  • Do not freeze.

octenisept® wound disinfection

Active substances: octenidine dihydrochloride, phenoxyethanol (Ph.Eur.). Composition: 100 g solution contain 0.1 g octenidine dihydrochloride, 2.0 g phenoxyethanol (Ph.Eur.).

Other ingredients: cocamidopropylbetaine , sodium D-gluconate, glycerol 85%, sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide, purified water.

Indications: Antiseptic for the repeated, temporarily limited adjuvant antiseptic wound treatment.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity (allergy) to the pharmaceutically active ingredients or any of the other ingredients. Rinsing the abdominal cavity (e.g. during surgery) or the urinary bladder. Do not apply to the eardrum. Undesirable effects: A subjective symptom of transitory burning sensation might occur in rare cases. In very rare cases allergic contact reactions, e.g. temporary redness, occur at the application site. Effective 12/22
