Women in STEM professions - diversity, the key to success
In many companies, the proportion of women in STEM professions is well below the average proportion of women among all employees.(1) On average in the EU, only 22% of STEM positions are filled by women.(2) At schülke, ~ 50% of employees in STEM professions are women.
This shows us that we are on the right track to promote equality and equal opportunities in the workplace in general and in areas where women are still underrepresented. We are convinced that diverse teams are the key to innovative solutions and sustainable success - not just in STEM, but in all areas.
Three female colleagues from different STEM professions at schülke told us what sparked their passion for this professional field and what they particularly appreciate about their work at schülke.
Dr. Maren Vollmer-Hünniger
Head of Quality Control-Process AssuranceMy interest in food, ingredient lists and ingredients led me to study food chemistry. I particularly enjoy analyzing substances. In my current role, I find it particularly exciting to be able to apply my knowledge to the new and further development of our products.
At schülke, we all pursue the common mission of protecting life worldwide. This motivates me every day to tackle new professional challenges and solve tasks together with my team. By exchanging ideas with colleagues from other areas, I also gain exciting insights into the entire process chain.
I would like to give young women who want to pursue a STEM career the following advice: be courageous, believe in yourself and take on challenges in order to grow.

Head of Quality & Compliance, schülke PolandI decided to pursue a career in pharmacy because it gave me many opportunities to help people: Before I started at schülke, I worked in pharmacies and hospitals. I am convinced that I made the right choice back then, because my path has led me to my current position.
schülke offers me many opportunities for personal development. I started my career in this company as a pharmacist and gradually expanded my skills. I am now responsible for our pharmaceutical wholesale business and the Customer Service and Logistics department. I am also a member of the cluster management team that works for schülke in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. I have a lot of responsibility and that motivates me to give one hundred percent every day.
Girls, if you like challenges and varied tasks, schülke is the right place for you!
